Both are accepted by IRCC for permanent residence, so the right choice usually comes down to test-centre availability near you, sitting dates, and which format suits how you work. Our TEF vs TCF comparison walks through the differences side by side. ### What score do I need for NCLC 7? NCLC 7 is the level most Express Entry candidates aim for, because it is where French starts earning meaningful additional points, and you need it in all four abilities. On the TCF Canada the minimums are 458 in listening, 453 in reading and 10 out of 20 in writing and speaking. On the TEF Canada, read on the ancien score columns Express Entry uses, they are 249 in listening, 207 in reading and 310 in writing and speaking. Full tables: https://francaisprep.com/tcf-canada/score-chart and https://francaisprep.com/tef-canada/score-chart. ### Do you teach in French or in English? Both. Lessons are taught by a native French speaker, and explanations can be given in English while you build up, then shifted fully into French as you approach your target level. ### Is Français Prep affiliated with the official exam bodies? No. Français Prep is an independent preparation service and has no affiliation with France Éducation International or CCI Paris Île-de-France. You register for the exam itself directly with an approved test centre. ### Can you tell me whether I will qualify for permanent residence? No, and you should be wary of anyone who says otherwise. We prepare you for the language exam. Eligibility and points are matters for IRCC or a licensed immigration consultant. ![](/_next/image?url=%2Fphotos%2Fstudy-session.jpg&w=3840&q=75) ## Start free today ![](/learn/mascot.svg) Bonjour !
