Each ability is converted on its own, so all four have to reach their figure before the result reads as CLB 10 overall. IRCC revises these pages, so confirm the current values there before you plan around a number. ## The CELPIP scores for CLB 10 IRCC's equivalency chart sets CLB 10 on CELPIP-General at 10 and above in listening, 10 and above in reading, 10 and above in speaking and 10 and above in writing. CELPIP-General reports on the CLB scale itself, so there is nothing to convert: a CELPIP 10 in an ability is CLB 10 in that ability. At the top of the chart the CELPIP figure becomes "10 and above": a 10, 11 or 12 in an ability is all read as CLB 10. CELPIP reports on the same 1 to 12 scale as CLB, so there is no arithmetic to do: your CELPIP number is your CLB level. ## CLB 9 and CLB 10 on CELPIP, side by side One level down, CLB 9 on CELPIP needs 9 in listening, 9 in reading, 9 in speaking and 9 in writing. CLB 10 is the top row of IRCC's CELPIP chart, running 10 and above in listening, 10 and above in reading, 10 and above in speaking and 10 and above in writing. A higher result is still read as CLB 10, so extra CELPIP marks above the minimum change nothing in Express Entry. ## How many CRS points is CLB 10 worth? As your first official language, each CELPIP ability at CLB 10 earns 34 CRS points without a spouse or common-law partner and 32 with one: 136 or 128 across the four, in a block that tops out at 136 and 128. CLB 10 or more is the last row of the points table, so CELPIP scores above 10 in all four abilities add no first-language points. A listening result just under 10 reads as CLB 9 and earns 31 instead of 34, which is why the weakest ability matters as much as the strongest. ## What CLB 10 buys above the programme minimums Every programme minimum IRCC publishes is met at CLB 7, which on CELPIP is 7 in all four abilities. Going on to CLB 10 buys points rather than eligibility: 68 more first-language points for a single applicant with all four abilities at CLB 10. ## What French adds to a CLB 10 CELPIP result With CELPIP at CLB 10 in all four abilities, NCLC 7 in all four French abilities would add 50 additional CRS points: the full French block, because your English already clears its CLB 5 condition. At CLB 10 on CELPIP your English has no first-language points left to gain, so French is the remaining language lever: 50 additional points.
