TCF Canada reports listening and reading out of 699 and writing and speaking out of 20, and IRCC's chart gives each ability its own band for NCLC 6, the French name for CLB 6. On the TCF Canada the NCLC 6 band spans 60 possible listening scores and 47 reading scores; in writing and speaking it covers 3 marks out of 20. ## CLB 5, CLB 6 and CLB 7 on TCF Canada, side by side One level down, CLB 5 on the TCF Canada needs 369 in listening, 375 in reading, 6/20 in speaking and 6/20 in writing. One level up, CLB 7 needs 458 in listening, 453 in reading, 10/20 in speaking and 10/20 in writing. Moving from CLB 6 to CLB 7 takes 60 points in listening, 47 points in reading, 3 marks out of 20 in speaking and 3 marks out of 20 in writing. The sections use different scales, so set each step against its own maximum: 60 of 699, 47 of 699, 3 of 20 and 3 of 20. ## How many CRS points is CLB 6 worth? As your first official language, each TCF Canada ability at CLB 6 earns 9 CRS points without a spouse or common-law partner and 8 with one: 36 or 32 across the four, in a block that tops out at 136 and 128. Each ability you lift to CLB 7 (458 listening, 453 reading, 10/20 speaking and writing) is worth 8 more points without a spouse and 8 with one, 32 if all four make the jump. A reading result just under 406 reads as CLB 5 and earns 6 instead of 9, which is why the weakest ability matters as much as the strongest. ## Where CLB 6 sits between the programme minimums No programme minimum is set at CLB 6. On the TCF Canada, CLB 6 clears the CLB 5 that the Canadian Experience Class, NOC TEER 2 or 3 and Federal Skilled Trades Program accepts (369 listening, 375 reading, 6/20 speaking and writing) and still misses the CLB 7 the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class, NOC TEER 0 or 1 asks for (458 listening, 453 reading, 10/20 speaking and writing). ## NCLC 6 on the TCF Canada and the additional French points NCLC 6 does not open the additional French points: they start at NCLC 7 in all four abilities. On the TCF Canada, getting from NCLC 6 to NCLC 7 means 60 points in listening, 47 points in reading, 3 marks out of 20 in speaking and 3 marks out of 20 in writing more. French can also be your first official language.
