IRCC revises these pages, so confirm the current values there before you plan around a number. ## The TEF Canada scores for CLB 6 (NCLC 6) IRCC's equivalency chart sets CLB 6 (NCLC 6) on the TEF Canada at 217 to 248 in listening, 181 to 206 in reading, 271 to 309 in speaking and 271 to 309 in writing. IRCC reads the TEF Canada attestation's Equivalence ancien score column, not the Score / 699 figure printed beside it: listening out of 360, reading out of 300, writing and speaking out of 450. On the TEF Canada the NCLC 6 band spans 32 possible listening scores and 26 reading scores; in writing and speaking it covers 39 points. ## CLB 5, CLB 6 and CLB 7 on TEF Canada, side by side One level down, CLB 5 on the TEF Canada needs 181 in listening, 151 in reading, 226 in speaking and 226 in writing. One level up, CLB 7 needs 249 in listening, 207 in reading, 310 in speaking and 310 in writing. Moving from CLB 6 to CLB 7 takes 32 points in listening, 26 points in reading, 39 points in speaking and 39 points in writing. The sections use different scales, so set each step against its own maximum: 32 of 360, 26 of 300, 39 of 450 and 39 of 450. ## How many CRS points is CLB 6 worth? As your first official language, each TEF Canada ability at CLB 6 earns 9 CRS points without a spouse or common-law partner and 8 with one: 36 or 32 across the four, in a block that tops out at 136 and 128. Each ability you lift to CLB 7 (249 listening, 207 reading, 310 speaking and writing) is worth 8 more points without a spouse and 8 with one, 32 if all four make the jump. A speaking result just under 271 reads as CLB 5 and earns 6 instead of 9, which is why the weakest ability matters as much as the strongest. ## Where CLB 6 sits between the programme minimums No programme minimum is set at CLB 6. On the TEF Canada, CLB 6 clears the CLB 5 that the Canadian Experience Class, NOC TEER 2 or 3 and Federal Skilled Trades Program accepts (181 listening, 151 reading, 226 speaking and writing) and still misses the CLB 7 the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class, NOC TEER 0 or 1 asks for (249 listening, 207 reading, 310 speaking and writing). ## NCLC 6 on the TEF Canada and the additional French points NCLC 6 does not open the additional French points: they start at NCLC 7 in all four abilities. On the TEF Canada, getting from NCLC 6 to NCLC 7 means 32 points in listening, 26 points in reading, 39 points in speaking and 39 points in writing more. French can also be your first official language.
