It takes 6.0 in all four abilities on IELTS General Training, 7 in every ability on CELPIP-General and L 60, R 60, S 68, W 69 on PTE Core; in French, L 458, R 453, S 10/20, W 10/20 on the TCF Canada and L 249, R 207, S 310, W 310 on the TEF Canada. IRCC revises these pages, so confirm the current values there before you plan around a number. ## What CLB 7 means NCLC and CLB are the same twelve-level framework under two names. NCLC is the French-language scale and CLB the English-language one, so a French result reported as NCLC 7 is the level English speakers write as CLB 7. IRCC reports French test results in NCLC. IRCC's equivalency charts run from CLB 4 to CLB 10, so CLB 7 is 3 levels above the bottom of the published range and 3 below the top. Each ability is converted on its own: a requirement of CLB 7 is met only when every ability it names reaches the level, however strong the others are. ## CLB 7 on each accepted test IELTS General Training: 6.0 in listening, 6.0 in reading, 6.0 in speaking and 6.0 in writing. CELPIP-General: 7 in listening, 7 in reading, 7 in speaking and 7 in writing. PTE Core: 60 to 70 in listening, 60 to 68 in reading, 68 to 75 in speaking and 69 to 78 in writing. TCF Canada: 458 to 502 in listening, 453 to 498 in reading, 10 to 11 out of 20 in speaking and 10 to 11 out of 20 in writing. TEF Canada: 249 to 279 in listening, 207 to 232 in reading, 310 to 348 in speaking and 310 to 348 in writing. ## CRS points at CLB 7 Express Entry scores each ability separately. At CLB 7 in your first official language that is 17 points per ability for a single applicant and 16 for one with a spouse or common-law partner, so 68 or 64 when all four abilities sit at CLB 7. CLB 8 is worth 6 more points per ability without a spouse and 6 with one. One level lower, CLB 6 pays 9 per ability, 8 fewer than CLB 7. ## Which programmes ask for CLB 7 IRCC's published minimums name CLB 7 for these programmes. A minimum is met only when every ability it names reaches the level. Federal Skilled Worker Program: CLB 7 in all four abilities in English, or NCLC 7 in all four abilities in French. Canadian Experience Class, NOC TEER 0 or 1: CLB 7 in English, or NCLC 7 in French. Level 7 is also the French threshold: NCLC 7 in all four French abilities is where the additional French CRS points start. ## CLB 7 in French: NCLC 7 In French, CLB 7 is NCLC 7. On the TCF Canada it takes 458 listening, 453 reading, 10/20 speaking and writing; on the TEF Canada, 249 listening, 207 reading, 310 speaking and writing in the Equivalence ancien score column. NCLC 7 in all four French abilities clears the threshold for the additional French points: 25 on its own, 50 with English at CLB 5 or above. CLB 7 on IELTS General Training is 6.0 in listening, 6.0 in reading, 6.0 in speaking and 6.0 in writing. Only the General Training option counts for Express Entry. ### What CELPIP score is CLB 7? A 7 in each ability. CELPIP-General reports on the CLB scale itself, so the number on the score report is the level. ### What PTE Core score is CLB 7? PTE Core needs 60 to 70 in listening, 60 to 68 in reading, 68 to 75 in speaking and 69 to 78 in writing, the bottom of each range being the score that reaches CLB 7. PTE Academic is not accepted for Express Entry. ### What is CLB 7 in French? NCLC 7. On the TCF Canada that is 458 to 502 in listening, 453 to 498 in reading, 10 to 11 out of 20 in speaking and 10 to 11 out of 20 in writing; on the TEF Canada, 249 to 279 in listening, 207 to 232 in reading, 310 to 348 in speaking and 310 to 348 in writing. ### How many CRS points does CLB 7 give? 17 points per ability without a spouse and 16 with one, for your first official language: 68 or 64 across four abilities. ### Is CLB 7 enough for Express Entry? It meets the minimum for the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Canadian Experience Class, NOC TEER 0 or 1, as long as every ability named reaches CLB 7.
