For the TCF Canada, the approved list is maintained by France Éducation International. For the TEF Canada, the operator runs its own finder at Le français des affaires. Book the seat first if dates are tight in Ottawa, then build the study plan around the date you actually hold.

Does living in Ontario change which exam I need?

Not by itself. The exam you sit is decided by which immigration programme you are applying under, not by which province you are sitting in. Ontario candidates applying through federal Express Entry need a result IRCC reads against NCLC, which means the TCF Canada or the TEF Canada. A provincial nomination may add its own conditions on top. (Verify: confirm any provincial language requirement directly with the programme.)
