You book and pay the centre directly, on its own website, and only the centre can confirm a seat. This guide collects what the official list and the centre’s own page say, with the date we checked each, and links both so you can confirm before you pay. Français Prep is online only and does not register anyone for an exam. We prepare candidates for the TCF Canada and the TEF Canada; the seat, the fee and the date are between you and the centre. ![Adèle, the native French teacher who runs Français Prep](/_next/image?url=%2Fadele.png&w=3840&q=75) Not sure which of this you actually need? A 15-minute video call works out which of your four abilities is furthest from the level your application needs. It is free, and some candidates leave with a plan and no purchase. Adèle Sason · Native French teacher - every class, every correction [Book the free call](/book) The centre ## What Alliance Française Vancouver is Alliance française Canada Pacific is the Alliance Française branch for the Vancouver area. France Éducation International lists it twice, once in Vancouver and once in New Westminster, and this guide covers the Vancouver listing. We do not vouch for any test centre. The exam operators keep the authoritative lists, those lists change, and a wrong address for a paid exam costs a candidate real money. Our test centre finder shows a dated copy of France Éducation International's official TCF centre list, and TEF Canada centres come from the operator's own locator. Confirm the date, fee and address with the centre before you pay, then come back and work out the preparation. [See it in the test centre finder](/tools/test-centre-finder?pays=CA&ville=Vancouver). Which exam ## Which exams Alliance Française Vancouver lists Its exams page covers both the TEF and the TCF, and names two exam locations, Vancouver and New Westminster. The exact location of your sitting is shown when you buy the exam. Alliance française Canada Pacific’s own exams page covers the TEF as well as the TCF. The official TEF centre search from Le français des affaires is the place to confirm a TEF Canada sitting. [Search TEF Canada centres](https://www.lefrancaisdesaffaires.fr/candidat/trouver-un-centre-agree/). For federal Express Entry you need the Canada version of either exam. IRCC accepts the TCF Canada and the TEF Canada equally, and the [comparison page](/tef-vs-tcf) works through which one suits your profile. Booking ## How booking works at Alliance Française Vancouver What follows is what the centre’s own page ([Alliance française Canada Pacific: TEF and TCF page](https://www.alliancefrancaise.ca/en/language/exams/tef-tcf/)) said when we checked it on 25 October 2026. Centres change their rules, so read the page itself before you pay. - The exam is bought from the centre, and the page says any purchase of a TEF or TCF is final: no refund or credit if you cannot sit it, and no rescheduling or transfer to another person. - About a week before the test date the centre emails an invitation with your exact exam time. - A passport is the only form of identification the centre accepts at check-in. - Results are sent by email, and the centre says they can take up to four weeks for the TCF. - Requests for special arrangements need a medical certificate at least two weeks before the exam date. We do not repeat fees or session dates here. Both are set by the centre and change without notice, and the [step-by-step booking guide](/how-to-book-tcf-tef-canada) covers the parts of registration that are the same everywhere. Exam day ## What to expect on the day The TCF Canada is the same exam at every centre. According to [France Éducation International](https://www.france-education-international.fr/test/tcf-canada), it has four compulsory sections: - Listening comprehension: 35 minutes, 39 multiple-choice questions. - Reading comprehension: 60 minutes, 39 multiple-choice questions. - Written expression: 60 minutes, 3 tasks. - Oral expression: 12 minutes, 3 tasks. Bring exactly the identification the centre asks for, and arrive early, because the centre’s own rules on late arrival apply. A result stays usable for [2 years](https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/language-test.html) for Express Entry. Preparation ## Prepare before you book A seat is paid for and usually not refundable, so the cheapest mistake to avoid is sitting the exam before you are ready. Work out the level you need, then book the date that leaves you time to reach it. - [TCF Canada course](/tcf-canada-course): the four sections of the exam, with timed practice. - [TEF Canada course](/tef-canada-course): the same preparation for the other exam IRCC accepts. - [Book a placement call](/book) to find out where you stand before you pay for a seat. Yes. Alliance française Canada Pacific (Vancouver) is on France Éducation International’s list of TCF centres in Canada, and its exams page sells TCF sittings for Vancouver and New Westminster. ### What ID do I need for the TCF at AF Vancouver? A passport. The centre’s exams page says it is the only form of identification allowed at check-in, so renew an expired passport before you book. ### Can Français Prep book my TCF at Alliance Française Vancouver? No. Français Prep is online only and does not register anyone for exams. You register and pay Alliance Française Vancouver directly, on the centre’s own website, and the centre is the only one who can confirm your seat. ### How much does the TCF Canada cost at Alliance Française Vancouver? The centre sets its own fee and shows it when you register. We do not quote it here, because centre fees change without notice and a stale figure would mislead you. Check the centre’s page linked in this guide. ### Does Alliance Française Vancouver offer the TEF Canada? Alliance française Canada Pacific’s own exams page covers the TEF as well as the TCF. The official TEF centre search from Le français des affaires is the place to confirm a TEF Canada sitting. ### How long is a TCF Canada result valid for Express Entry? Two years. IRCC needs the result to be under two years old both when you create your Express Entry profile and when you submit your permanent residence application, so book a date that leaves you inside that window. ## More for Vancouver - [Every TCF centre in Vancouver](/exam-centres/vancouver) - [Open the test centre finder](/tools/test-centre-finder) NEXT STEP ## Find out where your French actually stands Book a short assessment with Adèle: one writing task, one speaking task, and an honest plan for the weeks you have left before the exam.
